I’m sure you’ve spoken with people who say, “I got pregnant without even try” or “I got pregnant on the first try.” When you’ve been trying and haven’t experienced any luck, it can be difficult and frustrating. Many of our BabyPlus moms have had luck with ovulation kits, so we’re here to tell you about them. Ovulation kits range in price and ease of use. You can always buy the expensive 20 pack from your local retailer, or you can opt for the 100 count (and 20 pregnancy tests) from Amazon. Many of the moms we’ve spoken to have had great luck with these and they’re a fraction of the cost. So, once you buy them, how do you use them?Determine your cycle. Most women ovulate 12-16 days after the start of their period. Here’s a helpful ovulation calculator to determine your most likely ovulation dates.
- Some test require you to pee in a cup, while others want you to hold it in midstream. Do this for 5-10 seconds depending on what your kits states.
- Wait for the colored band to appear on the strip. This usually takes between 5 and 10 minutes. Many tests will tell you that a faint line does not mean a positive ovulation test, so be aware that you may want to take it a few days in a row just in case.
Good luck to all the women out there trying. Keep us posted on your results.
